The “Mental Health Support in the Workplace & Community” course is designed to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge to effectively support individuals experiencing mental health challenges.
This course is particularly valuable for professionals in various sectors, including healthcare, education, and community services, as well as individuals seeking to foster a supportive environment in their workplaces or communities. This course will address psychosocial hazards, factors in the workplace or community that can affect mental health, such as stress, bullying, and workload pressures. Participants will learn to identify these hazards and understand their impact on individuals and teams.
Strategies for mitigating psychosocial risks will be incorporated, empowering attendees to create healthier environments that promote mental well-being and resilience. By integrating this vital aspect, the course ensures a comprehensive approach to mental health in both workplace and community settings.
The course is divided into two parts:
The first focuses on strategies to work alongside and support people with mental health challenges. You’ll build skills in empathetic communication, understanding needs, and helping others achieve their personal goals.
The second part focuses on mental health crisis intervention, or what’s commonly referred to as mental health first aid. You’ll learn to recognise and respond to crises, ensuring safety, addressing immediate needs, and connecting individuals to professional help, all while taking care of your own wellbeing.
